Ilgar Veliyev is the Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in Azerbaijan. He was born on May 11, 1973 in Baku. He holds a Master’s degree in economics from Azerbaijan State Economics University, which he graduated from with honors in 1995.
Ilgar joined Ernst & Young in August 1994, and in 2007 he became the first Azerbaijani national to be appointed a partner among international accounting firms. Throughout his carrier with EY he has been involved in and spearheaded a wide range of projects across various markets, such as the Moscow practice (1995-96), and EY’s UK offices in London (2001-2003).
Ilgar is a licensed Azerbaijani Auditor, member of the Council of the Audit Chamber, US Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant of England and Wales. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business. In 2016 Ilgar was awarded the “Taraggi” (“Progress”) state medal by the President of the Azerbaijan. He is a married father of two.
Ilgar is a member of the Board of Directors of American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AMCAHM), and has been the President of AMCHAM from 2013 until 2017.
