Prior to setting up BEYLI Management as his principal investment and asset management vehicle for business activities in Azerbaijan and other emerging markets, Mr. Abbasbeyli served as the Group Chief Executive Officer of a large foreign investment and asset management firm in Azerbaijan. In this capacity, Mr. Abbasbeyli oversaw the management of a diversified portfolio of major companies in Azerbaijan, including assets in Telecommunications & Media, Mining & Metals, Oil &Gas and Construction industries.

Mr. Abbasbeyli also sat on the Boards of Directors of the major companies under the his firm’s management, including cellular, fixed and network infrastructure companies, gold and basic metals mining company and the largest cement plant in the Caspian region.

Mr. Abbasbeyli started his professional carrier more than 20 years ago as an attorney with a law firm of Salans Hertzfeld & Heilbronn (currently Dentons), in New York, USA, then continuing his tenure with the firm’s Baku office. In the past, Mr. Abbasbeyli served in a senior legal and management positions of a number of large foreign industrial, investment and multinational corporations in Azerbaijan, including EUPEC Pipe-Coatings LLC, BP Group and Azpetrol International Holdings B.V.

Mr. Abbasbeyli is an attorney in law, member of the New York Bar (2000) and the World Jurist Association (Washington, since 2009). He also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of ADA University Business School and as a Co-Chairman of a Board committee.

Mr. Abbasbeyli holds the Master of Laws degree from the George Washington University School of Law in Washington D.C., USA, the Masters Degree from the Purdue University in W. Lafayette, Indiana, USA, a law degree from the Baku State University and the Bachelors degree from the Khazar University in Azerbaijan.

Mr. Abbasbeyli is married and has two sons and a daughter.
